“Didi” Cooper is a vibrant mezzo-soprano from Michigan, who recently graduated with a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Louisville. Stunning audiences with her rich, velvety voice and engaging stage presence, she has played in various roles ranging from the money hungry Zita from Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, to the love struck young page Cherubino from Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro. Throughout her career, she has performed works by Juliana Hall, H. Leslie Adams and Gioachino Rossini in concert and has recently performed as the title role in Carmen and as Sarah’s Friend in Ragtime the Musical at the Bay View Music Festival. Didi regularly performs with the renowned American Spiritual Ensemble who has recently performed at La Folle Journée de Nantes Festival in France and has made her Detroit Opera debut as a featured ensemble member in Kurt Weill’s Down in the Valley and William Grant Still’s Highway 1, USA. This season, she is looking forward to bringing Marcelina to life in Opera de Metro’s production of Le nozze di Figaro.
